‘Meow Wolf: Origin Story’ Teaser: George R.R. Martin Loves This Immersive Entertainment Group, And So Will You
A flashy new documentary premiering at SXSW follows the group in the wake of their biggest project yet, with Martin on board as a very enthusiastic executive producer.

“Meow Wolf: Origin Story”

When George R.R. Martin calls something “truly unique,” it’s something worth paying attention to. Meet Meow Wolf, a group of artists from Santa Fe who funneled their talent and creativity into a homespun DIY collective dedicated to immersive entertainment. It’s a group that Martin just so happens to love and which are now on the receiving end of their own SXSW-premiering documentary: “Meow Wolf: Origin Story.”

Per the film’s official synopsis, “Their immersive, large-scale exhibitions crack open a profitable niche in the arts industry, even as their social mission is challenged by the demands of rapid success. The group’s members navigate fracture and loss for years in pursuit of their idealistic vision. When they spark the interest of George R. R. Martin and receive his support to take over an old bowling alley, Meow Wolf builds a massive exhibition with over 140 artists working at a breakneck pace.”

That project became known as the House of Eternal Return, but while its ambitious stakes helped shape a new chapter for the group, it also made clear that the creative team behind it were in dire need of some big talks. Art versus commerce, that old pickle, but filtered through the lens of a tight team with a big vision.

Martin also executive produced the film, which will premiere at SXSW on Saturday, March 10. Check out the first teaser trailer, plus two new posters, for “Meow Wolf: Origin Story” below and find out more about the film right here.
